Why adopt?

About 7.6 million unwanted pets enter U.S. animal shelters every year, and about 2.7 million of them are euthanized - roughly 31% of dogs and 41% of cats, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.aspca.org). And Pit Bull / Bully / block headed type dogs are among the most euthanized dogs at shelters, with some esdtiamtes stating that over a million of them, mostly healthy and adoptable, lose their lives every single year. We find these numbers unacceptable and hope you do, too!

Our Adoption Process

Our goal is to find the best possible match between the dogs in our care and families looking to welcome a dog into their pack. Therefore, we take our adoption process very seriously.

***

Please note that our teams is made up entirely of volunteers so our processing times may vary but we try to get in touch within 48 - 72 hours of hearing from you.

1. Adoption application

Fill out our online application to let us know more about you, your family, your lifestyle and what it is you’re looking for in a dog companion. If you’re interested in a specific dog, you can include that information in the application. If you’re open to hearing about any dog in our care in order to find the best match, we’ll work on a general pre-approval with you. Part of our application means providing three personal references as well as a vet check from current or previous pets.

2. Processing your application

One of our volunteer placement specialists will reach out to you via email (please check your spam folder) and will walk you through the process. After receiving your personal references and vet check information, we’ll schedule a 30 - 45 minute video chat with you to walk through your application and so that we can help determine the dog that would best fit with your family.

3. Adopting your dog

Once you’ve found the dog for you, we’ll coordinate a meeting for you, your family and the dog (this can be at our foster’s place, a park near the foster home, or an adoption event). If it’s the right match, you can finalize adopting your new family member right there via our online adoption process and take your new best friend home!

Adoption Fees

As a small rescue, we rely entirely on donations and adoption fees. These fees help us ensure every dog in our care receives a wellness visit at the vet, all mandatory vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella), heartworm and flea & tick preventatives, as well as spay/neuter surgery and a registered microchip. In most cases, the adoption fees do not cover our investments in the health and well-being of our dogs:

  • Puppies under 6 months: $400
  • Adult dogs (6 months - 7 years): $325
  • Seniors (7+ years): $300

*Adoption fees are subject to change.
